About truQ

truQ is reimagining logistics in Africa. Our tech-enabled platform enables small-scale transporters to access credit, automate their operations, get discounted expenses, and increase their income.

With over 3,000+ commercial vehicles signed up and partnerships across retail, e-commerce, FMCGs, and financial institutions, truQ is powering faster, cheaper, and smarter logistics. From trip aggregation to embedded finance, we’re not just powering the movement of goods — we’re powering Africa’s economy on wheels.

We’ve been featured in the United Nations’ 2024 Digital Economy Report, and backed by global accelerators like Techstars, Expert Dojo, and Google. We’re just getting started — join us at a defining moment of growth.

About the Role

As Finance Lead, you will own truQ’s finance strategy, reporting, and decision support as we scale. You’ll partner closely with leadership to manage budgets, analyze performance, support fundraising, and build the financial infrastructure that powers smarter decisions across the company.

This is a strategic and hands-on role for someone who understands numbers but also how they translate into business outcomes. You’ll build models, keep us investor-ready, drive financial discipline, and help us scale efficiently as we grow across Nigeria.

What to Expect

Within Days:

  • Get familiar with truQ’s current financial structure — budgets, cashflow, burn rate, and revenue streams
  • Set up weekly reporting rhythms for revenue, expenses, and cash position
  • Work with Ops & Growth to align on financial metrics for ongoing projects

Within Weeks:

  • Review and refine our financial model, including projections for expansion, unit economics, and fundraising
  • Develop dashboards and reporting templates for internal decision-making and investor updates
  • Set up systems for expense tracking, budgeting, and financial approvals
  • Support in structuring financing for fleet operators and credit-based partnerships

Within Months:

  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Partner with legal/accounting to ensure tax, compliance, and audit readiness
  • Prepare data rooms and reports for investor engagements and due diligence
  • Help evaluate and structure deals with suppliers, partners, and potential funders
  • Build and mentor a small finance and admin team as needed

About You

  • Financially Fluent: Strong with models, accounting principles, forecasting, and financial storytelling
  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: You can dig into the numbers and spot patterns, risks, and opportunities
  • Startup Ready: You’ve worked in fast-moving environments, built things from scratch, and are comfortable with ambiguity
  • Commercially Aware: You understand how finance supports growth, operations, and long-term value creation
  • Tool-Savvy: Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets, QuickBooks or similar, and reporting tools
  • Strong Communicator: You can clearly present financial insights to both technical and non-technical teams

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive salary + performance-based incentives
  • Equity (for high-performers with growth potential)
  • Travel support for out-of-state roles
  • Access to wellness, health, and upskilling benefits
  • About the Interview Process

We keep things simple and transparent:

  • Intro Call (20 mins): Culture fit and mutual expectations
  • Finance Case Study (60 mins): Financial modeling and strategy
  • Leadership Interview (30 mins): With founders
  • Reference Checks & Offer: Decision within 3–5 business days

Africa’s $180B logistics industry is due for a reset — and truQ is leading the charge. From automation to embedded finance, we’ve built tech and partnerships. Now we’re scaling — and we need a Finance Lead to guide how we grow responsibly, efficiently, and profitably.
