Job Title:
 Electrical Technician

Location: Lagos State, Nigeria

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment in a food processing facility. This includes production machinery, packaging systems, power distribution, and automated control systems. The technician ensures all work complies with food safety, health, and safety standards and supports continuous improvement initiatives in the plant.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, including motors, control panels, sensors, and PLCs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in production and packaging machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment and electrical upgrades.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, NEC).
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
  • Collaborate with mechanical technicians, production teams, and engineers to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Monitor and calibrate control systems to maintain product quality and equipment efficiency.
  • Support plant shutdowns, start-ups, and emergency repairs as required.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.



Qualifications and Skills:
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent technical certification.
  • 3+ years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), and VFDs.
  • Familiarity with food industry standards (HACCP, GMP ) is an asset.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure.
  • Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and on-call as needed.



Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a noisy, wet, or temperature-variable environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
