Job Position: Product Research Engineer-Biometrics

Your role
As a member of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team, you use your creativity and diverse range of engineering experience to explore solutions to a variety of engineering problems to build a specific biometrics device. As a technology engineer, you will perform analysis, define the design, and build a prototype of the new tool. You work in a product-oriented development environment and collaborate with outside sources in order to get the best of what is existing in our new product.

Your competencies
You live in a low resource country and you want to reinvent the shape of IT solutions:
balancing user experience, performance, and cost. You like to work on a team that balances these in an innovative and user-friendly design that complements and enables the technology. You are comfortable working on the borders of risk, actively communicating among the team to establish a design direction, creating prototypes that prove it, and working to scale that prototype.

Your responsibilities
Own the subsystem and individual part design from paper to production
Interact with partners to debug, design and guide it successfully to market
Make up-to-date recommendations on design architecture and manufacturing processes
Be sympathetic to human ergonomic requirements and innovate around humans-machine interfaces
Required qualifications

BS in Engineering Technology (software and hardware), or equivalent practical experience.
At least 3 years of relevant work experience with consumer and handheld product design.
Experience in hardware development experimentation in consumer electronics products
You have a programming experience in Java.
Preferred qualifications

5 years relevant work experience
Experience collaborating across project teams with ID and electrical
Experience working with imaging optics and optomechanical systems
Hands-on fabrication experience
You have a solid track-record in software architecture
You have professional experience in development for mobile devices as well as in-depth knowledge of Android SDK
You are familiar with the following technologies: JavaScript, Node.js, HTML5, AngularJS.
Ability and willingness to learn new programming languages
You are fluent in English and French
Nice to have
Open source and/or community exposure (i.e. Stackoverflow, GitHub)
A portfolio of applications published in the Google Play store
Knowledge of other mobile platforms such as iOS or mobile web
