Head Underwriting, General Business Vacancy

Oscar Temple-Our client, a leading insurance company, seeks to employ the services of a professional in the position of Head, Underwriting, who will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of the entire underwriting department (from products marketing, terms determination, policies and endorsements processing, reinsurance placements, to ensure that organization’s underwriting objectives are achieved within the set turnaround time.

Responsibilities

Set up a fully functional and operational underwriting processing team

Responsible for optimal utilization of resources within the department with the aim of ensuring reductions in overheads within the department.

Identifying and flagging risk management issues with customers and advised on methods of mitigating risks to reduce claim incidence.

Providing strategic leadership in order to drive customer advocacy and value creation through operational excellence underpinned by a transformation in the capacity of our people, infrastructure and processes.

Obtain and collate feedback from the underwriting team, brokers, and customers and discuss findings with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications/Competencies

Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Marketing or related discipline.

Post-graduate/ professional qualification will be an added advantage.

CIIN certification is compulsory

Minimum of twelve (12) years relevant work experience, with at least four (4) years in a

Senior management position.

Ability to network across all levels including Board of Director level.
