Action Against Hunger works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten the lives of vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.

Job Summary

The Health Assistant will be based in Maiduguri, Borno state, with frequent travel to the field. He/she will report to the Health Officer and also provide support in implementing community health groups (CHGs) within the population for each health facility targeted by CMAM. In collaboration with the community volunteers and as needed the health facility staffs, mobilizes the community for nutrition activities (detection of case, referral, follow-up). The Health Assistant will support the community volunteers in building up of the community mobilization network system in communities and follow-up implementation of activities.

The successful candidate will;

Have a minimum of Higher National Diploma in Nursing or health related field.

Have the ability and willingness to frequently travel to villages and stay at the field

Have the willingness and capacity to be flexible, supervise and coach.

Be professional, motivated and culturally sensitive.

Have and project management and representation competencies.

Have excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).

Be willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.

Be Fluent in English and other local language (Hausa, Kanuri).
