Job Title: Head of Technology

Location: Lagos

Role Objectives

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Technology is accountable for:


  • Heads the technical development team of Tavia Technologies
  • Providing technical leadership, foresight, direction and advice for the technical team and management
  • Provides technical information that meet the needs, guide strategic and operational decision-making in Tavia Technologies
  • Building on, implementing and communicating Technology strategy, operational plan, policies, procedures, systems and tools, ensuring these are tailored and adapted to suit the realities and needs across all levels of the organization and at the same time fulfilling clients’ requirement
  • Consistently providing and improving upon innovation direction for Tavia Technologies
  • Providing training and support for sound Technology management at all levels of the organization;
  • Working with relevant Technology Leads to monitor technology compliance within the organisation
  • Ensuring the development and maintenance of quality standards across all solutions delivered to the clients
  • Providing secure and efficient infrastructure direction for the Tavia and its clients.
  • Participating actively in all technical sessions, providing support and guidance to managers and employees on a full range of Technical requests (business or operational centric requests)

Leads Expert Technology advice in the following areas:

  • Solution Architecture, Design (logical and physical), Implementation and Maintenance.
  • Solutions technology direction (designs, dimensioning, capacity planning etc.)
  • Provide inputs for project timelines.
  • Meet with Customers on projects as demanded.
  • Leads all technical review sessions within and outside the organisation (i.e. with clients)
  • Manage and improve upon existing technology management frameworks and best practices within the organisation.
  • Ensure recruitment of the right development team and be accountable for all aspect of performance management.


  • Provide input for commercial documentation as required.
  • Provide all technical design documentation and control on all solutions as required.
  • Provide technical quality certification on all development efforts and solutions of the organisation before and after release for operational support services.

Pre-Sales & Concept

  • Supports Tavia’s sales team technically during bidding and prospecting phases.
  • Design and Set-up strategy for optimal project costing during the planning phase.
  • Participate in technical sales meeting and pitching.
  • Translate business requirements of projects to technical information.
  • Supports the delivery team in identifying needed resources and skills for new prospects.

Product Development and Design

  • Work with the Tavia’s in-house experts to develop blueprints and road maps for NPDs.
  • Advise on infrastructure planning and requirements specific to the NPDs.

Solutions Delivery

·        Works with the delivery team to ensure quality solutions delivery and ensure customer satisfaction based on applicable metrics


  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all technology disciplines of the organisation.
  • Set an example for the team by maintaining a positive attitude and dedicated work ethics.
  • Strive for continued growth and maturity of technology team skills, exposure and quality.
  • Coach and mentor peers.
  • Ensure client issues are resolved in a timely manner.


  • Must be able to always understand the business needs and propose a technology solution that addresses the associated requirements.
  • Proven ability to communicate at multiple levels of a mid-size to enterprise-level organization.
  • Ability to work equally as effective independently or in teams.

Training and Meetings

  • Identify training needs for Tavia development team & work with HR to ensure training provision
  • Encourage and guide in team development and management

Network Maintenance and Operation

  • Ensure the efficient, secure and effective operation and performance of Tavia’s network
  • Ensure that an adequate plan for disaster recovery and carrying out back-ups of the organization’s data is maintained and has been effectively implemented;

Essential Requirements, Qualification & Experience

  • B.Sc., M.Sc. in computer Science or related discipline.
  • Management qualification (e.g. MBA) is essential.
  • Relevant Technical qualification or its equivalent through training/experience
  • At least 7 years of experience managing an IT department.
  • Proven track record as a senior level leading an IT team in a complex organization delivering measurable improvements in IT service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful technology team management is essential
  • Experience in technology policy development and implementation
  • Knowledge of relevant compliance issues such as Data protection, FOI, WEEE;
  • In-depth Knowledge & understanding of SharePoint/.Net/PHP or open source technologies including the ability to customize databases will be an advantage.
  • Data analysis – data mining, extraction & tuning experience is also an added advantage
  • Experience in unified communication, server virtualization & other relevant IT technologies and how they can be deployed to achieve excellent shared IT service,
  • Proven ability to manage technical experts and external service providers, including formal tendering, contract negotiation, management of commissioned work, and ongoing supplier relationship management;
  • Demonstrable commitment to customer-focused service to achieve organizational objectives.


  • Appropriate Qualifications and or knowledge in Solutions architecting, Solutions development and Data analytics/Reports are desirable
  • Knowledge and/or qualification in a recognized IT service delivery framework.
