Rice Plant Engineer at Sujimoto Nigeria

 Sujimoto-We are seeking a Rice-planting engineer to oversee the entire process of rice cultivation, from preparing the land for planting to harvesting the crop. He/She will utilize their knowledge of agricultural practices, crop management techniques, and machinery to ensure the successful growth and yield of rice crops.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare the land for rice planting by leveling, plowing, and applying necessary fertilizers or soil amendments.

· Select and procure quality rice seeds or seedlings for planting.

· Plan and schedule the rice planting activities, taking into account weather conditions, crop rotation, and field conditions.

· Operate and maintain agricultural machinery, such as tractors, seeders, planters, and irrigation systems, to ensure proper rice planting.

· Attend to the specific requirements of different rice varieties, such as spacing, depth of planting, and planting density.

· Monitor and maintain appropriate water levels in rice fields throughout the growing season, utilizing either manual or automated irrigation systems.

· Implement pest and disease control measures, such as applying pesticides or biological agents, to ensure healthy rice plants.

· Regularly inspect rice fields for signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies, and take appropriate remedial actions.

· Monitor and manage weed control activities, including manual weeding or herbicide application, to maintain a weed-free rice field.

· Implement proper harvesting techniques, including the use of appropriate harvesting machinery and methods to ensure minimal damage to rice grains.

· Dry, thresh, and store harvested rice to maintain grain quality and prevent spoilage.

· Keep detailed records of planting activities, inputs used, crop yields, and any issues encountered.

· Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in rice cultivation to optimize production and minimize environmental impacts.

· Collaborate with agricultural specialists, researchers, and extension services to receive guidance and support in implementing advanced farming techniques and technologies.

 

Requirement

  • Extensive knowledge of rice planting techniques, crop management, and agrochemical usage.
  • Understanding of soil types, agronomy, and water management principles for successful rice cultivation.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physical stamina required for farm work.
  • Knowledge of crop protection methods, including pest and disease control.
  • Familiarity with sustainable farming practices and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with agricultural specialists, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn and implement new farming techniques and technologies.·
  • Preferred nationalities (Vietnam, India, Thailand & Philippines)
