Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Database Administrator, located in Lagos State, Nigeria. The Database Administrator will manage and maintain company databases, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability. Day-to-day tasks include database design, implementation, troubleshooting, and performing regular maintenance tasks such as backups and data recovery. The role also involves monitoring database performance, optimizing queries, and managing database replication.
1. Database Design and Modeling:
Ability to design efficient, scalable, and normalized database models.
Proficient in creating Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams.
Knowledge of different data models (relational, NoSQL, etc.).
2. Data Security and Compliance:
Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
Experience implementing database security measures, including encryption, user roles, and access control.
Knowledge of auditing and compliance requirements.
3. Capacity Planning:
Ability to forecast database storage needs based on data growth trends.
Knowledge of techniques for performance optimization to handle increasing loads.
4. Data Backup and Recovery:
Expertise in creating backup schedules and disaster recovery strategies.
Knowledge of data restoration, replication, and failover processes.
5. Performance Tuning and Optimization:
Experience identifying and resolving database performance issues.
Familiarity with indexing strategies, query optimization, and resource allocation.
6. Data Governance:
Understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
Knowledge of data quality, data lifecycle management, and master data management (MDM).
7. Collaboration and Communication:
Ability to communicate database-related technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business units.

- Experience in Database Design and implementation
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of database replication processes
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus

Salary Budget:
