Job Summary:

Our client is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Hotel Accountant to oversee our financial operations in Port Harcourt . The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. The Hotel Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining financial stability and supporting the hotel's overall

success.


Key Responsibilities:


1.Financial Reporting:

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets,

and cash flow statements.

Provide management with timely and accurate financial reports for decision-making purposes.


2.Budgeting and Forecasting:

Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to identify areas for improvement.


3.Accounts Payable and Receivable:

Oversee the processing of invoices and payments to suppliers.

Manage the hotel's receivables, ensuring timely collection of payments from guests and clients.


3.General Ledger Management:

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.

Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records, making adjustments as needed.


4.Internal Controls:

Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard hotel assets.

Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.


5.Tax Compliance:

Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns.

Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws.


6.Financial Analysis:

Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Identify trends, opportunities, and potential areas of improvement.


7.Cash Management:

Monitor cash flow and manage cash reserves to meet operational needs.

Coordinate with financial institutions to optimize banking relationships.


8.Audit Coordination:

Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.

Address audit findings and implement recommendations for improvement.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an accountant in the hospitality industry, preferably in a hotel setting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
